How to charge your phone faster

4:13 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys, if you came here expecting things like "switch off your phone, switch off your data etc", then you are in the wrong place. I want to try to use this post to make you understand your phone charger and the cable, just sit and understand what i am about to say. it's not rocket science.

Firstly, understand this

Power(Watts) = Current(Amp) * Voltage(Volts)
So, have you ever taken your time to look at those specifications on your charger and tried to understand what they mean. Every charger has a certain amount of Power(Watts) it can output at a given time. The higher the Power the faster the charging(simple analogy). For example

My Sony Xperia Z1 charger specification goes thus

Output
5.0V and 1500mA
Using the formula above
first we just convert the mA to Amp
5.0*1.5=7.5 watts
Good but not good enough
My LG GPAD 8.3 charger specification goes thus

Output
5.0V and 2000mA
using the formula above
5.0*2.0= 10 watts
Now this is better
From the calculations above, i don't have to tell you guys my number one charger for my devices. The thing is that you won't really see the Power(Watts) specs on the charger, that part is left for you to calculate. What you should be checking out for is the Current(Amp) output because that is what really determines how fast the charger can charge a device. At times you will see 2.1A or 1.0A or 1.5A on the body of the chargers, by now i think you should know which is the fastest.

Computer USB ports deliver very low Current(Amp) most times 0.5A, that's why it takes time to charge up your phone. Wireless chargers can't charge your phone fast enough too. I know most LG chargers output 2.0A, not all chargers are the same. Some big mAh Power banks have 2 outlets for charging devices, and from the few i have come across, one outlet outputs more Current(Amp) than the other. If you are not busy with the device at the moment you want to charge, just put it on "Airplane Mode", it helps too.

So guys if you have any question you can ask below and remember to share the post.

Samsung's new Bio-Processor and what it can do

2:39 AM Unknown 0 Comments

So, guys Samsung is not joking at all, as in this tech thing is their play ground. So they have started mass producing their new Bio-processor and the things it can do, well i don't think i will be running to the hospital anyhow for check ups. I can just sit on my couch and know if i am alright or not.

The chip has five analog front ends for Bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA), photoplethysmogram (PPG), electrocardiogram (ECG), skin temperature, and galvanic skin response (GSR), which measures body fat, and skeletal muscle mass, heart rate, heart rhythm, skin temperature and stress level, respectively. Stress level? really? hmmm.. To think this SoC uses less power with all these features packed in it.

I am still waiting for the day they will bring a device that can record my dream and then when i wake up i can watch it.

How black wallpaper can save you battery power on Android

1:06 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys, today is kind of a good day because today you will be learning something really different. Ok, the topic title already says it all but before we dive into the main details we have to understand the different kind of screen technologies we have. I would have loved to tell you guys what you need to know about touch screens and how they work but it will end up making this post very lengthy, so let's just cut to the chase. There are mostly 2 screen types used on devices, either AMOLED or LCD. These 2 screen technologies are also subdivided but we won't dive into that too, you can always google the rest up.

You see, the 2 screen types emit light using different methods, and they both have their pros and cons. AMOLED screens displays black as black and it also makes colors pop(Samsung's Secret), it also uses less power compared to LCD. That's because when AMOLED screens displays are suppose to show the black part of an image, then those pixels are off(are you getting my drift). Now, LCD on the other hand don't know how to display black clearly, they are always a little bit greyish(HTC why?), that's because LCD uses backlight for screen brightness and that backlight is always on thus the more power it needs. But one advantage the LCD has over the AMOLED is sharper display.

Now, after the whole explanation above, it will be okay to say, if your device is built with an AMOLED display, then you need a black wallpaper in order to conserve battery. Don't think this is some myth, the experiment has been carried out. What about LCD? well, the answer is really funny, to conserve more battery with a device built with LCD display, wait for it....... use a brighter wallpaper, guess you didn't see that coming. The whole explanation behind the LCD's display power conservation can be found here. So guys what are you waiting for start changing your wallpapers ASAP!!.

Why don't you backup

3:16 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Guys, seriously i can't emphasize enough how important it is to always back up your important files especially pictures and files. This is a real story, it was my final year in uni and as a computer science student i decided to develop an android app as my project, every night after i am done coding i push my code to GIT and the written project to Google Drive. As at the time i only did that just for code revision, little did i know that it was going to help me. Few weeks to project defense my laptop got stolen. So let's just imagine i wasn't uploading my code to the cloud, where would i have started from?.

So i will like to implore you guys to back up your most important files, be it pictures, videos, documents etc just back it up. To even think that is easy and cheap(if not free) to get a cloud storage with enough space.

Some of the ones i use are DROPBOX Google Drive and One Drive . So guys go and start backing up, you never know when you will need it.

How to use 2 instagram accounts on one phone

1:49 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Hello guys, so i am sure some of us are social savvies, and if you are a social savvy then you must know what Instagram is, but for those that don't know. Instagram is a photo sharing social network where users post pictures of whatever the want to and their followers like or/and comment on the pictures.

There is a need for some people to own 2/3 different Instagram accounts, it is not madness. One could be personal and the rest could be for business, where you showcase your products or connect with your clients. It will be wicked of me to not to show you this work around for how to run 2 Instagram accounts on one phone. Although, i think Instagram are working on an update that will make this possible within it's app. But for now just use this trick and you are good to go.

The name of the app is INSTWOGRAM and you will have to install it side by side with your normal Instagram app and that's all. No hassle, and it also comes with some advantages too like you can download pictures and videos which the normal Instagram don't allow.

Here is the download link Download INSTWOGRAM

If you are not using Quickteller, you are wrong

4:20 AM Unknown 0 Comments

So you are an educated Nigerian, you know how to use the Internet both on your phone and laptop and you still go to the ATM to withdraw money to send to someone, huh? In fact after reading this don't ever go to the bank/ATM except you need to withdraw money or deposit physical cash.

Quickteller is just too good, I can't count how many times i have transferred money to a friend or family member seamlessly or pay for DSTV/GOTV subscription while sitting on a couch. The best of them all is buying recharge card, that's the one i enjoy most, you know those times you are making those important calls and then MTN/GLO/ETISALAT breaks your heart "You have 1 minute left". It can be very annoying.

All  you just need is either a phone or a laptop and Internet connection (obviously). If you are using a phone just go to your App store and download the App and then Register and start using right away. There are so many features i can't even start listing here, it is left to you to discover it yourself.

Please before you even start using Quickteller, make sure your ATM card is activated for online transactions. Some ATM cards come activated like Access Bank's cards but Diamond Bank's has to be activated and you don't have to go into the bank, you can activate the card using an ATM machine.

When you are transferring money from one account to another, they charge 100 naira since it is instant transfer. No additional charges when buying recharge card. You can register for their virtual verve card using this short code *322# . Other information you will need is within the App.

Some of the advantages of using Quickteller are

  • Inter/Intra Bank transfer (100 naira per transaction)
  • Airtime Top-up
  • OTP(One-Time Password)
  • Internet Subscription Top-up
  • Bill payment (PHCN, Water bill, Flight booking etc)
  • You can even use quickteller without internet connection (Verve eCash)
  • etc...
Just visit Quickteller

Why Telegram is better than WhatsApp

3:21 AM Unknown 0 Comments

I mean telegram is just everything an instant messenger is suppose to be. I discovered telegram when it was still in beta stage and ever since then i was hooked. I can't say it is better designed than WhatsApp but what I can say is that it has more features than WhatsApp. Some of the new features WhatsApp is rolling out have been in Telegram for months some of which are extended number of people per group to 1000, end-to-end encryption etc. Not withstanding, WhatsApp has some advantages over Telegram like Voice calls, more users and some hidden features.
